Tickly

A to-do you can write the moment you think of it.

Tickly is a to-do app for handling everyday tasks without friction. There is no separate “new task” screen — you write directly in the list.

Break work into levels, tell things apart with colour-and-icon labels, and star what matters. The toolbar above the keyboard handles editing, reordering and changing a task’s level in one tap.

Widgets and Apple Watch keep your tasks within reach, and because everything is stored on your device, the core actions keep working offline.

What it does

  • Write straight into the list

    No separate screen for a new task. Type it where it belongs, the moment you think of it.

  • Break tasks into clear steps

    Organise from main tasks down to smaller steps. Colours and connecting lines make the relationships obvious at a glance.

  • One tap, right above the keyboard

    Edit, move a task up or down, and change its level from the toolbar above the keyboard — all while you are still typing.

  • Keep tasks tidy with labels

    Combine a colour and an icon per label. Switch between a list and a chip view, and see how many tasks sit under each one.

  • All and Starred

    Star what matters. Switch between All for everything and Starred for the tasks you want to keep in front of you.

  • Notes, images, links and due dates

    Attach a note, an image, a URL or a due date to any task. Tasks with a due date can also be added to your device calendar.

  • Search, and manage what is done

    Search task titles and notes by keyword. Completed tasks can be shown or hidden from Settings.

  • Home Screen widgets

    Small, medium and large widgets. Check your tasks from the Home Screen, and add a new one without opening the app.

  • On your wrist

    Check your to-dos on Apple Watch, filter by label, and see due dates, notes and how your subtasks are progressing.

  • Theme, text size and language

    A light look or a calming dark theme, three text sizes, and both English and Japanese. Set the display up the way you like it.

Frequently asked questions

Which devices are supported?

Tickly supports iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Android.

Is Tickly free?

Yes. Every Tickly feature is free to use, with no advertising, in-app purchases or subscriptions.

Where is my task data stored?

Data is stored only on your device. There is no account, cloud sync or data export feature.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Adding, editing, completing and reordering tasks all work without a connection.

What can I do with the widget?

You can view tasks using the widget sizes available on your device. Tapping the add button opens Tickly so you can add a new task in the app.

What can I do on Apple Watch?

You can view tasks, mark them complete and filter them by label. Tasks cannot be added or edited directly on Apple Watch.

Does Tickly send due-date notifications?

Tickly does not send its own due-date notifications. You can manually add any task to your device calendar, even if the task has no due date.

Are there limits on tasks or subtasks?

There is no limit on the total number of tasks or subtasks. Tasks can be nested four levels deep: one main task plus three subtask levels. Each label can contain up to 500 main tasks.

How long do completed tasks stay?

Completed tasks are deleted automatically after 30 days and cannot be restored. Data deleted with the in-app deletion controls cannot be restored either, so you are responsible for managing your data.

Which languages are supported?

English and Japanese. You can switch between them at any time in Settings.

This policy explains how the app “Tickly” (“the app”) handles data.

What is stored, and where

Tasks, subtasks, labels, notes, attached photos, URLs, due dates and other data you create in the app are stored only on your device.

  • The app has no account registration or sign-in.
  • The app has no cloud sync.
  • App data is not transmitted to or stored on the developer’s servers.
  • Completed tasks are automatically deleted from the device 30 days after completion.

Access to device features

The app may request the following permissions when you choose to use a related feature. You can change these permissions at any time in your device settings.

  • Photos: to attach an existing photo from your device to a task.
  • Camera: to take a photo and attach it to a task.
  • Calendar: to add a task to your device calendar when you choose to do so.

Data selected or created through these features is not transmitted to the developer’s servers.

Third-party services, advertising and purchases

The app does not use third-party SDKs for analytics, crash reporting, advertising or similar purposes. It contains no advertising, in-app purchases or subscriptions.

Deleting and exporting your data

You can delete stored data using the deletion controls in the app. Deleting the app from your device also removes the data it stored on that device.

The app does not provide a data export feature. Deleted data may not be recoverable.

Children’s privacy

The app has no age restriction and does not collect age information. It requires no account and does not send personal information to the developer’s servers.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app’s functionality changes. If we do, we will revise the “last updated” date on this page.
